Grade 8 Update:

Math-8/Algebra: We have been very busy! We have covered Surface Area of polyhedrons such as rectangular prisms, triangular prisms, cylinders, pyramids, and cones. The unit assessment was a great success and the students really earned their grade! Good job staying focused grade 8!

We will continue to work with the volume of these polyhedrons as well.

We will be covering triangle congruence and trigonometry, counting( permutations and arrangements) and probability, and data analysis.

In algebra we will continue to become proficient in all operations of polynomials, exponents, radicals, graphing linear and non-linear equations, slope, quadratic equations. We will be using graphing calculators as well.

Geography-8: The African board games continue to develop and soon we will actually share our creations. Students will present and discuss the objective and rules of their games to the class. Each game will be "tested" and I am sure we will all enjoy this part of the project. Grade eight has been doing a terrific job and I look forward to enjoying some "game time"!

We have been studying Asia as well: India, Pakistan, and China, Japan, and Korea. We will move to Australia, Oceania , and Antarctica before our year comes to an end-hard to believe it is almost here!

We will be discussing and writing papers on various current events during this upcoming quarter. Proper format is a must! Note-taking, essays and outlining skills are continually addressed.

Computer-8: We have been "Keyboarding" during several of our computer classes. Students should be practicing skills found on www.senselang.com. We are trying to get a jump on our keyboarding skills for high school---so close.
